Individual caricatures done from photos.

A2 size caricature of Grover.
Medium used: Colour-marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Client's purpose: Birthday gift.

A2 size caricature of Bill.
Medium used: Colour-marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Client's purpose: Birthday gift.

The client did these 2 caricatures for his friends' birthday. He got the idea after seeing some of my works displayed at my shop. The caricatures were ordered one at a time.

Pictures shot using my Sony Camera.

I bought my 6 Mega Pixel Sony camera DSC-W30 about 2 years ago to use it for my work. Only till recently I started to realise the quality it produces. On the way to the gym at Paragon Orchard,I saw Yafriro's event being held at the atrium of Paragon Shopping Mall.As an artistic person,I found the atmosphere was so fantastic that I immediately drew out my camera from my pouch & started snapping at the models.Just take a look at the sharpness, colour, details of these photos. They might even be used for advert,he..he...
For your info,I'm not a professional photographer, just somebody who likes to snap at anything I think is nice.I'm beginning to show interest in photography & who knows, one day I'll become a pro.It really motivates me to snap more in future.

Portrait sketches used for Singapore TV dramas.

Singapore TV station MediaCorp approached me to sponsor 2 sketches to be used in one of their Channel-8 Chinese drama series 'Like Father Like Daughter' which was shown on 5th.Sept 2007.In return, they gave me credit in which my logo as well as my company's name 'Portrait Studio' appeared at the end of 3 episodes in a roll.

This half done sketch was meant for the actor who pretended to draw it half-way.

This full done one was meant for him pretending to have completed the sketch.

In 2006, A Indian director told one of his crews to make an order for 2 sketches from me.They were used in one of their drama series too. I do not have any idea what the drama name was.The purpose of these 2 sketches was the same as MediaCorp. The only difference was that it was not a sponsorship. They paid for them so no credit, ayo-yo...
The difficulty of this portrait was that they gave me 2 pictures to work on. The first picture was the actress's face and the other was a reference picture of a model wearing the head-dress & costume. My job was to draw the actress wearing the same head-dress & costume as in the reference picture. Not an easy job, right?

Live caricature event for MF Global Dinner & Dance 2008

Date of event: 24 May 2008 Sat.
Venue: Forbidden City – (IndoChine Restaurant / Bar) at Clarke Quay Singapore. Duration: 1.5 hours (6.30pm to 8pm).
Drawing speed: Approximately 5 minutes per head.
Theme: Silk Route(Arabian Costume).

The first thing that caught my attention when I reached the premises was this car. The longest car I've ever seen in my life. Is this the longest car in the world,I wonder... If you need it's service for your wedding, call the number on it's door. The signage that greeted me & my assistant. The main entrance of Forbidden City. The console. The atmosphere. Me & the other entertainer, palm reader Master Chuan of Character Analyst/Feng Shui Consultant. If you need his services, call his mobile at 97820820. My show begins... To view video of me working on one of the guests in youtube, please click thye above title in pink.

A short video clip showing me fully concentrate on capturing one of the guest's feature.

The boss addressing the guests. My show ended & time to go home thru this stairway. Out of the building, this is what I saw, beautiful scene. Bye-Bye! Forbidden City... Just before I headed to my car, I managed to take a glimpse of the newly revamped Clarke Quay. The canopy was the most interesting feature. It reminded me of the movie I watched the previous night, Indiana Jones-Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. The sidewalk restaurants by the river.

Portrait of Peter Schmeichel

A3 size portrait of Ex-Manchester United Goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel.
Medium Used: Chacoal on white paper.
Client's purpose: Personal Interest.

To celebrate Man U winning the Champions League yet again,I decided to post this portrait today.
When I digged thru my previous works recently,I came across one of my favourite 'charcoal' artpieces that I have ever done.I used to be a great fan of Peter at that time,in 1999,so it gave me the inspiration to do a good job of my idol.Today,I'm still very much in love with this piece of work.
The client requested to leave an empty space on the left side of the portrait.I do not know what her idea was...

Wedding caricature of my sister

A4 size wedding caricature of my sister.
Medium used: Colour Marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Purpose: Print on wedding invitation card.

This is a gift from me to my sister who married a American in 2006. They live in California U.S. I did two coloured versions(top & bottom)for them to choose from. The one on top was done 100% manually as usual whereas the bottom one was done using photoshop airbrush on the manually drawn outline drawing.Guess which one they choose for their card printing? The answer is the fully hand-drawn one(top),of course. This shows that hand-drawn caricature is still the preferred choice not only for my own sister but also for most of my customers. Many people still value the traditional method when it comes to this type of artworks although we are now living in a digital age .The idea of having a digital portrait or caricature drawing is still unpopular especially in this part of the world. So far there is no demand yet as people think that a digitally drawn artpiece has no authenticity. This is the reason many people wonder how a full time artist like me can survive in this digitally environmental Singapore.
Meanwhile,to cater for customers who seek digitally coloured caricature in the near future, I will be doing more samples to add to my variety of mediums use. Coming soon...

This guy doesn't look like a butcher to me. I do not know the reason why the client requested me to draw him that way. Some clients have funny or weird ideas that you can't imagine of.Some even want me to draw their friends with bodies of animals like monkey, pig & so on.This is the interesting part of being a caricaturist acceding to their requests.

Caricature for ExxonMobil Singapore

Medium used: Colour-marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Client's purpose: Corporate gift.

Another piece of work done for my regular client 'ExxonMobil'. The main subject travels often from Singapore to China on business trips. The client wanted to include it in the background by drawing icons of the 2 countries. The reason why he is holding the drum-sticks is b'cos he is a drum enthusiast whose 10year old son plays drum at the roadside in Orchard Road as a busker during weekends.
