Photography- KLCC.

During the recent Chinese New Year holiday, I went for a trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to take some photos of the Twin Towers from different angles. All the photos shown here were taken in low light condition with my Sony DSLR A700 & a 11-18mm wide angle lens attached. When I was there for a period of 4 days, I met up with a Flickr friend TLChua who took me to a few places to shoot, including Bukit Tinggi where a French theme town is located. It was quite an experience & fun to shoot outside Singapore for the first time since I took up photography 2 years ago. My decision to target the twin towers was inspired by the many world class shots taken by my Flickr friends especially Ragstatic & DanielKHC.
Hope you enjoy viewing them ;)

Caricature done from photograph.

A4 size caricature of a cool boss.
Medium used: Color-marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body.
Client's purpose: A gift for boss.

The subject is a boss who had probably missed his younger days so much that his employees did a caricature depicting a funky youth for him.

Caricature of a property agent.

A4 size caricature of a property agent.
Medium used: Color-marker on white paper.
Type: Face & cartoon body.
Client's purpose: Printing on business card & flyers.

Another property agent ordered a caricature for the same purpose as my last 2 posts. He wanted it in a waiter's body to show that he would serve his clients like a waiter does. A unique idea indeed...

Caricature of a property agent.

A4 size caricature of a property agent done from photograph.
Medium used: Color-marker on white paper.
Type: Face & cartoon body.
Client's purpose: Printing on business card & flyers.

Another piece of caricature depicting a property agent in Singapore. This guy was a colledgue of the lady whom I posted earlier. Both of them came without any photo & I took pictures of them on the spot so that they could make an order for the caricatures they wanted on their business cards. This client wanted me to draw him holding a box of gift which would be given to those who use his service.

Caricature of a property agent.

A4 size caricature of a property agent done from photograph.
Medium used: Color-marker on white paper.
Type: Face & cartoon body.
Client's purpose: Printing on business card & flyers.

The client wanted something different for her business card as well as flyers & advertisements. Caricature used for that puropose is quite porpular among property agents in Singapore. She came to my shop without any photo but I suggested that I took a photo of her using my camera. She agreed & made an order after that. All she wanted was that the caricature depicted her holding a house with her uniform. Quite a straight forward job...

Live portrait sketching event for Citibank.

Event: The Launch of Citigold Private Client.
Date of event: 8 Apr 2010.
Venue: Capital Square, Church St, Singapore.
Duration: 1.00pm to 4.00pm (3 hours).
Average drawing speed: 20 minutes per head.

I did another rare portrait sketching event in 2 months but this time there were 8 of us ocuppying a room respectively. My artist friend Jit sought the services of us as the client requested for portrait sketching instead of caricature. It was hard time for him to find so many portrait artists who could do a hand-drawn portrait in less than 30 minutes in Singapore. He couldn't find enough & end up asking some caricaturists to do the job.
All of us were required to wear total black smartly. We were like The Men In Black except for the lady artist who wore a black & white dress. Same as the last Chanel event we did last month, we were told not to take pictures of the guests holding the completed artwork, so I end up taking pictures of the artworks without the models as you can see in this blog post.

The venue was at Capital Square Building.

On the way to the briefing before proceeding to our respective rooms.

Before we started, we took a group photo of all the Black Artists for this high end event. Jit was in the extreme left & I was standing at the extreme right.

The completed portrait artworks of the guests.

Unlike the last Chanel event, this one was so comfortable with proper lighting & set up.

One of the artists, Poon, who had to stay behind to finish the big boss' portrait drawn from a photo. Poor Poon...

Photography-Taken from The Pinnacles@Duxton at 50th storey.

My photographic skill has progressed this far ever since I took up photography 2 years ago. In this post, I'm showcasing some shots taken recently from the tallest HDB flat in Singapore, The Pinnacles@Duxton, during a photoshoot outing with my friends williamcho & Ragstatic(Flickr names) both of whom are highly skilled shooters.
My photos are mostly taken in the night as low-light photography is my interest simply because it's more challenging compared to day-light shots. The most challenging part is to get the correct exposures so that the image would not be over or under exposed. You need to have a good knowledge in techniques in order to produce works that can be considered good enough for publishing purpose. My night photographs have attracted many big players from around the world in Flickr to constantly view & add them to their favorite folders.
I wish that my skill would improve & progress further to become one of the best low-light photographers in Singapore ;).

Individual caricature as anniversary gift.

A4 size caricature of a girl done from photograph.
Medium used: Color-marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Client's purpose: Anniversary gift.

It's cool to make a special & memorable caricature as an anniversary gift to your girlfriend. The client did exactly that during their 1st. anniversary as a couple.
He wanted to include her dog in the caricature & what I did was to draw it popping out from the huge pink heart together with the girl.
