Sam Hui Concert 2010.

I went to watch the Canto Pop pioneer Sam Hui's concert last Saturday. It was being held at the Expo-Max Pavilion, in Singapore. The living legend of Hong Kong still performs well although aged. His voice is still powerful as always. The last time I watch his concert was about 20 years ago. That was supposed to be his last but surprisingly he surfaced again after such a long absent. We were really entertained by this stylo uncle.
I took some pictures of him & his elder brother Ricky Hui who sang a few songs during the concert. These pics were taken with my small 'point & shoot' camera as DSLR was not allowed otherwise I could have taken some high quality ones.

We were seated quite far from the stage so I waited till his face appeared on the huge screen to shoot this.

I managed to capture a closer shot at the foot of the stage.

Funnyman Ricky was singing a duet with brother Sam who was also playing the guitar.

On-site caricature drawing service for BDD.

Event: Team BDD.
Date of event: 21 June 2010 (Monday).
Venue: MAS Building, Singapore.
Duration: 11.30pm to 12.30pm (1 hour).
Average drawing speed: 6 minutes per head.

I was engaged to do a live session for the team BDD at the Monetary Authority of Singapore building. The 11-person caricature was drawn on a A2 size paper. They were being drawn one after another just before their lunch hour. The caricature was meant as a gift to their lady boss who was departing,I guess.
After finishing the 10th person, they told me that the last one got to be done from a photo simply because that person was absent. I did that by looking at a photo in an iPhone belonging to the lady boss. Luckily the image was sharp enough for me to get the likeness. We had lots of laughter as the whole group was joking during the session.

Caricatures of squash stars .

A4 caricatures of squash stars for British Club, Singapore.
Medium used: Colour marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon bodies.
Client's purpose: Appreciation gift.

The client from the British Club in Singapore did these 2 caricatures as gifts to the 2 visiting stars. The bodies which I'd cartoonised are not imaginative but their own. They were done from the action pictures provided by the client.
I'm not a squash fan, thus do not know their names. Anyone can tell me who are these 2 players?

Portrait sketching.

A3 size portrait of a sleeping guy done from photograph.
Medium used: Pencil/graphite on white paper.
Client's purpose: personal gift.

An unusual request by the client to draw her boyfriend from a photo which she took while he was sleeping. I was surprised that she would pay me to draw such a portrait. The challenge was to draw it in an artistic way so that it wouldn't looked like a photo but an art piece. The request was to use pencil but I used graphite instead to create the texture & it looked interesting as a result.

On-site caricature drawing service.

Event: Teradata Universe 2010.
Date of event: 25 May 2010 (Tuesday).
Venue: Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore.
Duration: 6.00pm to 8.00pm (2 hours).
Average drawing speed: 6 minutes per head.

This event required 2 caricaturists & William Lee was the one whom I sought the service from. It was held in the ballroom of the hotel. The guests were from countries around this region. We really enjoyed the session as everybody was happily laughing with what they got.
Apart from this event, the client ordered 10 pieces of individual pre-drawn caricatures (done from photos) separately for their VIPs so that they could be presented to them during the event but we didn't get the chance to see it as the presentation was held before we arrived otherwise I would have taken some pictures of it. Anyway, the 2-hour session went smoothly without any hiccup.

On arrival at the pre-function area.

Activities inside the ballroom during the event.

Job done & it's time for a photo taken with Wilson Lee(right).
