On-site caricature drawing service for kids party.

Event: Shayna's birthday party.
Date of event: 12 Sept 2010 (Sunday).
Venue: National Museum, Singapore.
Duration: 3.30pm to 4.30pm (1 hour).
Average drawing speed: 6 minutes per head.

My 2nd caricature drawing service for kids party in September was hired by a local magician cum balloon twister who calls himself Mr Bottle, a unique name for an entertainer. Like the 1st one which I did for Juliette, it was also held on Sunday late noon. What a coincidence that my up & coming post will be another kids party & was held on Sunday too. That means I did 3 kids party in a row during the month of September. Maybe I'm popular among the kids LOL...Just kidding.

The lovely birthday signage of Shayna.

Selected are 5 of my caricatures for your viewing. The session started with the birthday girl.

Hey, uncle Reggie is drawing, don't play play.

Caricature for X'mas.

A4 size caricature of a lady in Christmas mood done from photograph.
Medium used: Colour-marker on white paper.
Type: Face only.
Client's purpose: X'mas gift.

When I mention a 'Face Only' caricature, usually I don't draw only the face but a little lower till the chest level. In this case, since I draw till the waist level & a hat, I charge a little more than the usual price of 'Face Only'. Usually, the client don't mind paying more for something better.
Christmas is coming, so if you are thinking of giving a caricture as a gift, it's about time to make an order to avoid disappointment because once I'm overloaded, I'll stop taking such order. So start planning now...

On-site caricature drawing service for kids party.

Event: Juliette's 1st birthday party.
Date of event: 5 Sept 2010 (Sunday).
Venue: The Carribean Condo, Singapore.
Duration: 4.00pm to 5.30pm (1.5 hours).
Average drawing speed: 6 minutes per head.

I was engaged by the client, Marie, to do a caricature drawing session for her daughter Juliette's 1st birthday party at the function room of the condo she lives in. The guests were mostly foreign kids accompanied by their parents who were expats working in Singapore.
The art of caricaturing kids especially toddlers is not an easy task. The most challenging part is to make them sit still for at least 2 minutes so that I can capture their features before they start crying & screaming. In this job, I felt very satisfied with the result as I had captured most of them with quite high resemblance. This is done through years of practise drawing toddlers on the street in Orchard Road. To capture the exact age of the kids is another difficult part. Some parents get offended when you draw their kids older than their age especially if they are paying for it. How many artist out there can handle this, I wonder, simply because the customers do not understand that this is hand-drawn artworks that may not be perfect. Whenever I get a chance, I would remind them that artists are human, not robots or machine that can do a flawless job. If you are an artist, I would say that if you could be consistent in getting say 7 out of 10 customers happy with your work, you are considered an excellent artist ;). Enjoy your visit...

On arrival at the main entrance of the condominium.

Upon reaching the function room, the awesome view of the swimming pool captured my attention.

Selected are 8 of my caricatures for your viewing. The session started with the birthday girl, Juliette.

Happy Birthday, Juliette.

Me busy capturing the features of Juliette.
