On-site caricature drawing service.

Event: Ministry of Finance Dinner & Dance.
Date of event: 12 Dec 2008 Friday.
Venue: Movida, St. James Power Station, Singapore.
Duration: 1 hour (6.00pm to 7.00pm).
Average drawing speed: 3 minutes per head.
Theme: Alice's D&D Party.

I was engaged to do this event without knowing that it's for the Ministry of Finance. I was not told before hand but when I saw the signage inside the hall, I was quite surprised. The highlight of the event was probably the arrival of the Finance Minister Mr Tharman. There was no reporter or bodyguard in sight so I got a chance to get quite close & snapped some pictures of him. During the event, I supposed I was the only entertainer besides the emcee as I didn't see any other. Maybe, it's due to budget constraints...:p

Photographs of Esplanade- Part 2.

The durian shaped building is probably one of the most photographed icon of Singapore in recent times. I shot quite a number of it in different colour temperatures as well as angles & views. As low light photography is my favourite, most of them are shot during the night time in order to capture the multi colour light effects & reflections. The camera used for these set of pictures was my new Sony DSLR Alpha 700. If you would like to see more of my photographs, feel free to visit my Flickr Photostream by clicking on the pink title above.

On-site caricature drawing service.

Event: SPD Volunteer's High Tea.
Date of event: 6 Dec 2008 Saturday.
Venue: YMCA, Singapore.
Duration: 1 hour (2.00pm to 3.00pm).
Average drawing speed: 4 minutes per head.

Once again,I did this event on behalf of Jit. He 's such a busy caricaturist that he couldn't be able to cope with his works. This afternoon's events was attended by mostly the elderly & teenagers. Besides the emcee, I was the only entertainer & Henry was there too to assist me on some photo taking as well as video recording. The session was quite a casual one.

The YWCA building is located between Park Mall & Fort Canning Park.

Group caricature for Citibank.

A2 size group caricature done from photographs.
Medium used: Black pen on white paper.
Type: Face only with background.
Client's purpose: Corporate gift.
The building background of this caricature was done in pencil so that it would not over power the whole drawing. It was a very tedious process to draw the windows alone. The hair of everybody was shaded as requested by the client at an additional cost of 10%. The result was quite good...

Couple caricature done from photograph.

A4 size caricature of superman carrying wonderwoman.
Medium used: Colour-pencil on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body.
Client's purpose: Anniversary gift.

Ordered by their children as a surprise present during their celebration. The parents were those sporting type, I supposed :-)).

Oil painted portrait done from photograph.

A1 size (24 X 36)cm painting of a couple.
Medium used: Oil paint on stretched canvas.
Client's purpose: Anniversary gift.

The lady client wanted a memorable anniversary gift for her husband. She requested for an oil piece to symbolise 'love forever'. It took me around 6 weeks working at home as it's not easy to handle a big piece like this. The painting had been touched up a few times before she finally accepted it. Hard work but worth it as she was happy though it was not a perfect one.

On-site caricature drawing service.

Event: Heineken Promotion Night.
Date of event: 28 Nov 2008 Friday.
Venue: The Marakesh Bar Lounge at Clarke Quay,Singapore.
Duration: 2 hours (6.30am to 8.30pm).
Average drawing speed: 20 minutes per head.

Another interesting event held at Clarke Quay. This time it needs 2 caricaturists, both Kamal & myself were there. Both of us were asked by our caricaturist friend Jit to do the show. He couldn't do it himself due to his other commitments. The client requested us to spend more time to draw the Heineken bottle on every piece as well as to colour it. Besides, we were required to include icons of certain countries in the background. The guests were mostly from the media & some of them were radio DJs. The most interesting part of the evening was the Aussie comedian, Jonathan, who could speak many languages such as Malay, Mandarin, Japanese, Tamil, etc. He really entertained & made everybody laughed till nobody got the time to be drawn by me :-D.
