Date of event: 10 Dec 2010 (Friday).
Venue: Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore.
Duration: 5.00pm to 6.00pm (1 hour).
Average drawing speed: 2 minutes per head.
I was engaged as one of the caricaturists for the shrink caricature job that required 2 artists. Shrink caricature is a form of art that needs a caricaturist to draw on a small piece of plastic which was then put into an oven to be baked & shrunk it before being made into a magnet that is about the size of your thumb nail. The magnet that can be stuck onto the door of your refrigerator. Sometimes they make it into a key chain for the guests to take home. I felt that it was too difficult to draw a person's face onto such a small surface. Because of the small size, most of my caricatures did not come out as good as what I usually do but the guests didn't mind it at all. It's just for the fun of it & very popular too.
I was being booked 3 months in advance for this event as 10 Dec 2010 was a hot day for caricaturists. All of us were fully booked on this particular day. I was engaged in another 3-hour event after that.
Upon arrival at the ballroom of RWS.
Here are 4 tiny caricatures for your viewing. These were raw pieces before being shrunk.
The drawing was in progress. It took less than 2 minutes to complete a drawing. The fastest caricatures I ever done lol...
The caricatures were being put into the oven by these 2 persons for baking & made into magnets.
The atmosphere during the event.
