Sketch of Singapore Satay Club in Sembawang.

I was engaged by the owner of Singapore Satay Club to sketch the atmosphere of the open-air restaurant live on the the last day of their operation before moving out. It was meant to be an art piece for memory sake. A small table was given to me to work quietly in a corner while patrons were busy eating & enjoying their satay for the last time at the Sembawang outlet.  The challenge of this job was that it was done at night & the massive movement of the people that constantly distracted me. It took me a few hours to capture almost everything that was there in front of me. It was a tough job indeed but a good experience.

The client, a young girl, came to me with her drawings to request for better ones drawn by me. What I supposed to do was to copy them as close as possible with my style of coloring & stroke. The drawings show the front & a back view of an imaginary blonde girl on 2 separate A4 size papers. Although I did not know the actual purpose of these artworks, I guess she used them to do cards or something, those girlie stuff... ;)

Cartoon illustration is not my specialty but there are customers who request for this service once in a while. Personally, I do not like to do it simply because it bounds to have many revisions & changes especially those companies involve more than one owners or people with opinions. It's just not worthwhile doing unless the fee is very high...

The client, Mr Kumara, from the Prime Minister Office (PMO) of Singapore ordered a painting of this Singapore map with the national security theme as a farewell gift to SM Prof. S Jayakumar in October 2010. The painting was being framed nicely for the occasion.
I was being told that it was presented to him by Mr Wong Kan Seng.

The client was from an advertising firm that wanted this artwork for an illustration work which they were doing for their client. I did not know their actual purpose of doing this as I've not seen their finished artwork. This caricature was of a different type as the resemblance of the subjects was not important. I was required to fabricate their expressions which was quite a difficult task. A few drafts were sent to them for comments & approval before the final work was executed.I supposed my drawing was quite ok as they accepted it without complaints.

This sketch was done from a picture reference given to me by the client.He wanted it to be tattooed on his body.

The client wanted all his photographs taken with his girlfriend at a tourist attraction in France to be drawn as a memory & given to her on Valentine's day.The place was where they met each other & fell in love ever since.What a romantic idea he had.He pointed out that he wanted the fireworks to be included so I used a black coloured marker to draw the background & created the effect.Wonder whether they've got married by now...

The client wanted the art work to remind his shipyard workers not to drink while on duty.As the face of the character didn't have to resemble anybody,it was drawn based on my imagination.

As Far East Plaza has quite a number of tattoo shops,their clients are usually recommended to me for sketches that involved human faces.I've done many of such requests but never have I done any to be tattooed on my own body.I'm sure that will never happen simply b'cos it's not my cup of tea.!-)
The client actually provided me with a reference picture of the angelic body as well as a photo of the girl to be superimposed.I believed she might be his wife otherwise how to erase if the relationship doesn't work, right?.
As the space available for me to draw the face was rather small,it was extremely difficult to capture the resemblance of the girl.However,I've got no idea whether it looks like her.I just tried my best but he didn't complain about the resemblance upon collection of the artwork.I guess I've got it right.

Dragon drawing is something I've never done before. The customer provided me with a picture of the same dragon but it was in red colour. He requested to change the colour to a green one instead. My job was only copying directly from his picture. Although it's not my interest to draw something like this,I decide to give it a try.The result was quite satisfying as this is my first dragon drawing.
