Event: Patterns Of Trade.
Date of event: 16 & 17 Feb 2012 (Thursday &
Friday).
Venue: Asian Civilisation Museum, Singapore.
Duration: 6.00pm to 9.00pm (3 hours).
Average drawing speed: 6 minutes per head.
I was hired by Singapore Heritage Board to draw caricature inside the Asian Civilisation Museum during their textile exhibition for 2 days in a row. The free caricature session was meant for those who walk in for the exhibition. The experience of drawing in the museum was not a good one simply because the environment was too dim to do a good job. It was not allowed to brighten the place for this purpose. Moreover, the way I was seated holding my clipboard was also not comfortable, hence, difficult to perform well.
Fyi, I was hired again for another 2 days in April due to popular demand. This time it was better as they had arranged a table for me. At least I was more relax without having to hold my clipboard but too bad they couldn't do anything on the lighting issue . I hope they would arrange a better location for me in future if I ever being hired again. ;)
