I was hired for a very rare Sunday morning roadshow which was held at the sidewalk in between Lucky Plaza & Tangs. Customers who purchased a pre-paid card were entitled to do a caricature by me for free apart from other goodies they received. I was told that the roadshow is there every Sunday. Their customers are mostly Filipino maids who line up before the counter operates.

Individual caricature of Mr Gerard Ee.
A2 size caricature of NKF(Singapore)'s boss Mr Gerard Ee.
Medium used: Color-marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Client's purpose: Farewell gift.
Mr Gerard Ee was appointed as NKF's chief in 2006, so he had to depart from his former job. His colleagues did this caricature for him as a farewell as well as an appreciation gift. They requested a caricature that depicted him eating his favourite food, at the same time wiping sweat on his head. A background of their office building was not forgotten.

Wedding caricature.
A3 size Wedding caricature done from photographs.
Medium used: Color-marker on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Client's purpose: Wedding display & invitation card printing.
The bridegroom was a Liverpool fan, so he wanted me to draw him with taxedo top & Liverpool bottom. As for the bride, she wanted an orange color gown with tiara on her head & holding flower. They made sure that their Mazda car & dog were in the drawing too.
They were probably the owners of the white color house on top the hill in Singapore & that got to be in too. They got the inspiration from one of my previous blog post showing the similar design. Modified here & there to create a design that suited them well.

On-site caricature drawing service at 8th Degree.
Event: The wedding party of Keng Leong & Christina.
Date of event: 3 Jan 2010.
Venue: 8th Degree Lounge, NTU Alumni Club, Buona Vista, Singapore.
Duration: 1.30pm to 4.30pm (3 hours).
Average drawing speed: 6 minutes per head.
I was hired by the bride & bridegroom for their wedding party on a Sunday afternoon of the 3rd day of new year 2010. They had actually booked me 4 months in advance after collecting 2 pieces of A2 size caricatures done from photographs at my shop. They requested me to bring along some A3 size paper in order to draw some couples during the wedding party. I was being treated to a delicious buffet before starting the session, thanks Keng Leong & Christina.
Originally, they wanted me to do a 2 hour session but extended my service due to overwhelming response.
The huge building where 8th degree is situated.
The guests were enjoying the food when I arrived.
This was the place where I did my job.
These are some of the guests with their caricatures done.
During the session, I wore my red beret to match my red polo t-shirt especially for this wedding event, otherwise it would be in total black :)).

On-site live portrait sketching service for Chanel.
Event: Chanel Fine Jewellery Exibition.
Date of event: 10,11 & 12 March 2010.
Venue: Theatreworks, Mohd Sultan Road, Singapore.
Duration: A total of 9 hours(2 sessions per day).
Average drawing speed: 20 minutes per head.
My caricaturist friend Jit sought my service to do this rare portrait sketching job for a high-end client 'Chanel' during their jewellery show recently. I was too used to do caricatures at events that I'd forgotten to bring along my pencil for this particular job on the first day. Luckily, Jit had some spare ones for me. Both of us were required to wear all black for all sessions. Anyway, we would wear all black by default for most of our jods. That went well with us.
The client was very cautious not to allow us taking pictures of the guests together with the portrait for certain reason. Maybe they were high society people who need privacy but they didn't mind us taking those artworks that we did.
We had 2 sessions per day of which one was meant for lunch crowd & the other was for the dinner crowd. The last session on the 3rd day was the toughest one which we had to draw non-stop for 3 hours. Tired after the final session but we did get some tips from the last guest, at least enough for us to pay our parking fees, hehe...
The difficulty of this job was that the light was not to our advantage. It was dim & not properly shone on the guests face so we had a hard time trying to figure out the features from the hard shadow on their faces. I didn't enjoy drawing at all but what to do, the show must go on...

The showcase hall that displays all the jewellery. A very high class setting.
These are some of my drawings without the usual way of picture being taken with the guests.

Caricature for MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore).
A3 size caricature done from photographs for Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Medium used: Black ink pen on white paper.
Type: Face with cartoon body & background.
Client's purpose: Corporate gift.
A caricature depicting the famous talent show which was called 'MAS idol 2'. The people in this caricature were probably contestant of their singing contest or maybe those in the same department that needed a caricature to be done. Whichever the purpose was, my job was to draw a piece of artwork to their request.
